The midcentury modern movement that was, in its time, quite radical and sometimes controversial, is today widely enjoyed for its simplicity, creativity, and integration with nature. Weston, along with Westport and Easton next door, proved to be one of Fairfield County's hot spots for midcentury and other types of modernist homes, including those designed by Richard Neutra, Paul Rand, and Joseph Salerno.
The bus tour will take you throughout Weston and into Westport and Easton to see and learn about a collection of these buildings, highlighted with special interior stops along the way!
This is a one-time-only event, space is limited.
The tour will start and end at the Weston History and Culture Center, 104 Weston Road, Weston, CT. Parking lot and entrance on High Acre Road.
After the tour, view the Weston History & Culture Center's exhibit, "Weston Illustrated: Penned, Painted & Sculpted" and get a guided tour of the Coley House, brought back to reflect life during the 1940s.
